Common objections include:

  1. "I'm not interested right now"

    1. Some good responses:

      1. Do you have any future projects in mind?

      2. Ask if they know anyone else who may need services

      3. Give them your cell phone number if they ever need a no-commitment sounding board for home issues or projects

  2. "It's too expensive"

    1. Some good responses:

      1. Adjust the price

      2. Offer some discounts or special offers

      3. Talk through any financing options you might offer

      4. Defend your ticket price by explaining the value you provide - could be company credibility or the high quality of work, and more

  3. "It's just not the right time"

    1. Some good responses:

      1. Let them know how your financing offers can allow them to afford the project now

      2. Schedule a follow up further out when they are ready

  4. "I am going with a competitor"

    1. Some good responses:

      1. Ask to see the other quote so you can compare and offer feedback or differentiate yourself

      2. Ask why they chose the competitor and use their feedback to inform your future conversations
